Quick introduction

Hi, my name is Xander. I've been programming in Python for almost 8 years now. Mostly coding games with the use of Pygame and other libraries, but i recently ran into the unavoidable speed issue. Python is just too slow for what i want to do. While most people will tell me Python is fast enough, I just write bad code. I'd say they're completely right. Though the thing is, I'm not perfect, so neither is my code.
This is not the first time I've ran into this issue and I've tried using game engines like Unity3D and Unreal Engine, but they were all way too overwhelming for me. A couple weeks ago, I forced myself to try one more time, this time with Godot Engine (still don't know how to pronounce it). And i love it! Simplistic enough for my brain to comprehend, not too much pre-coded stuff, no visual scripting. So i've been experimenting around with it since then.

TL;DR: I'm Xander. Switched from Python to Godot Engine.

The game

I started developing this game in Python with Pygame, but it quickly got unplayable on a normal computer, so I tranfered to Godot Engine. In Python it took me about 4 months of coding in my free time. In Godot.... I made it in about a week.
I plan to make this into a story-heavy adventure game with lots of secrets to uncover by the player. The "special" thing being that you (the player) will always travel together with your companion (voiced by me). I've already writen the storyline's main flow, but the game itself currently needs way more work. Right now, the game is back to where I ended with Python, with the only exception being a "hyperspace" effect when you spawn into the world. I labeled the game as "Prototype" since I'm not sure whether or not the concept has potential. I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments.

I'm going to post these devlogs every month from now on so be sure to follow me if you're interested
